The things haulers ask us most, from how we price to how AI search picks a dumpster company.
About TrashTech
What is TrashTech?
TrashTech is a technology and marketing studio that works only with waste and recycling companies. We build CRMs, websites, online booking, SEO, paid ads, email campaigns, brand and truck design, reputation programs, AI phone and chat tools, and analytics for haulers, dumpster rental, junk removal, recycling, scrap, organics, medical waste and municipal teams.
How do I get started?
Book a 30-minute call through the contact page. Before the call we look at your website, listings and ads. After it, we send a short written plan with what we would fix first.
How do you price your work?
Fixed prices for defined projects like a website or booking system, and a monthly fee for ongoing programs like SEO, ads and email. Ad spend is paid directly to the platforms from your own account. See the engagements page for details.
Do you build custom software or set up existing tools?
Both. Many haulers are best served by configuring and connecting tools they already have. When a workflow needs something custom, such as a customer portal or a booking flow tied to container inventory, we build it.
Will my website show up in AI search answers like ChatGPT or Perplexity?
No one can guarantee placement in AI answers. What helps is clear, consistent facts across your site and listings, structured data, and pages that directly answer the questions customers ask. That is how we build every site.
CRM for haulers
Why not just use a generic CRM like the ones every sales team uses?
A generic CRM assumes a customer buys once or twice and moves through a sales funnel. A hauler has recurring service, physical assets in the field and tickets that need an address, a container and a driver. We can configure the structure so those things are first-class records, not custom fields bolted on later.
Can it replace my route software or dispatch system?
Usually it works alongside it. Routing and dispatch tools are built for optimization and driver apps, and we connect to them rather than rebuild them. The CRM holds the customer relationship, quotes and history, and the dispatch tool holds the daily truck plan.
Websites for haulers
Why does a hauling company need more than a basic template site?
A template gives you a homepage and a contact page. A hauler needs pages for each service and each area you serve, clear accepted-materials rules and a fast path to a quote. Those pages are what show up when someone searches for a dumpster in a specific town.
Can customers book or pay on the website?
Yes, if it fits your operation. Some companies start with a quote form and add online booking for roll-offs later, and some go straight to scheduling and payment. We connect to payment tools like Stripe and tie requests into your CRM or dispatch process.
SEO for waste companies
How long does SEO take to work for a hauler?
It depends on your market, your starting point and the competition. Fixing a neglected Google Business Profile can show movement in weeks, while new service-area pages usually take months to settle. We will not promise a ranking or a date, and you should be wary of anyone who does.
What is the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?
Local SEO targets the map results and location-based searches, such as 20 yard dumpster rental near me. It leans heavily on your Google Business Profile, reviews and proximity to the searcher. Regular SEO focuses on the site's pages and links, and for a hauler both matter, with local usually driving more calls.
Lead generation for haulers
Do you sell leads, or generate them for me?
We generate them for your company from your own channels. We do not resell the same lead to several haulers. That means leads belong to you, the tracking belongs to you and you are not competing with your own lead vendor.
What is a good cost per lead for a dumpster company?
It varies a lot by market, season and container size, so any number we quoted would be a guess. What matters is the cost per booked job compared with what that job is worth to you. A 20-yard swap worth $450 can support a different lead cost than a $120 junk pickup, and we set targets from your own margins.
Paid ads for haulers
Should I use Google Ads, Local Services Ads or both?
It depends on your market and category availability. Local Services Ads sit at the top of results in many areas and charge per lead, while Google Ads search campaigns give you more control over keywords and messaging. Many haulers run both and compare results by cost per booked job.
How much should I budget?
There is no honest universal number, since click costs vary by market and season. We work from what a booked job is worth to you and how many jobs your trucks can add, then start with a test budget and adjust based on real results.
Email marketing for waste companies
Do haulers really benefit from email, or is it just for retail?
It helps most where customers repeat or need reminders. Route customers need service notices. Roll-off and junk removal customers often return, and a message at the right time reminds them who delivered last time. Commercial accounts need renewal outreach that does not depend on someone remembering.
Can you send texts as well as emails?
Yes, where it makes sense and where you have the right to send. Texting has stricter consent rules than email, so we set up proper consent capture and opt-outs. We recommend you confirm your obligations with your own counsel, since rules vary.
Brand and digital media design for haulers
Do you handle the actual truck wrap printing and install?
We design the artwork and prepare production files to your wrap shop's specs. Printing and installation are done by a local wrap or sign vendor, and we can work with the one you already use or help you compare quotes. We review the vendor's proof against our artwork before it goes to print.
How do you make a truck readable at highway speed?
We keep the phone number large, high contrast, and in a place that is not interrupted by door seams, handles, or hopper edges. Fewer words, bigger type, and one clear call to action beat a crowded panel. We check layouts by viewing them at reduced size, the way a driver sees them from a few lanes over.
Video production for waste companies
Do we need a big budget or a long shoot?
No. Most hauler projects can be shot in a day or half a day at your yard, and one shoot usually produces enough footage for several videos. We scope the work around what you need, then quote it directly, so there is no standard package.
Will filming slow down our trucks or crews?
We plan around your routes and keep the footprint small. A small crew can shoot while trucks are loading out or between runs. Drivers are briefed in advance, and nobody gets pulled off a route for filming.
Online booking for dumpster and roll-off companies
Will online booking replace my dispatcher?
No. It takes routine orders off the phone, so your dispatcher spends time on the jobs that need judgment: tight placements, mixed loads, and customers with odd requests. You can set rules to hold certain orders for review before they are confirmed.
How does live availability work if my inventory changes during the day?
Availability is calculated from container counts, scheduled deliveries and pickups, and your daily capacity. If you pull a container out for repair or a swap runs late, your office adjusts the count or blocks a date, and the booking page updates. How closely it tracks real time depends on whether it connects to your dispatch system or is maintained by your office.

Reputation management for waste companies
Can you remove a bad review from Google?
Only the platform can remove a review, and it generally does so only if the review breaks its policies, such as spam, harassment, or a review of the wrong business. We can flag those and document the case. For a legitimate complaint, the best fix is a calm reply and actually resolving the problem.
Do you write or buy reviews?
No. Fake and incentivized reviews break platform rules and consumer protection rules, and they put your profile at risk. We help you ask real customers, at the right time, and make it easy for them to respond.
AI automation for haulers
Will callers know they are talking to an AI?
We recommend telling them. Some states and carriers have disclosure rules for automated calls and call recording, and customers are generally more patient when they know what they are talking to. We configure a short disclosure and an easy way to reach a person.
What can't the AI do?
It can misunderstand accents, noisy backgrounds, or unusual requests, and it can give a wrong answer if your knowledge base is out of date. It should not negotiate contracts, diagnose regulated waste questions, or promise anything outside your rules. We set it up to hand off when it is unsure.
Analytics and integrations for waste companies
Can you connect to our routing or dispatch software?
It depends on what that software offers. Some tools have an API or webhooks, some allow scheduled exports, and some offer neither. We review your tools first and tell you what is possible, and we do not claim official partnerships or certified integrations with any vendor.
Will call tracking change our phone number?
Your main number stays the same. Tracking numbers appear on specific sources, such as an ad or your Google profile, and forward to your main line. We set it up so your local presence and number consistency are maintained.
